Welcome to This Sunday’s Broadcast of Faith for Living.
Dear Friends,
As we continue our study through "The Mighty Eighth" series on Romans chapter 8, we honor the courageous legacy of the storied 8th Air Force in World War II—a beacon of liberation and resilience. Just as the 8th AF soared through turbulent skies, our exploration ascends into the profound depths of Romans Chapter 8, a cornerstone of biblical theology that powerfully declares the sovereignty of God over all things and His divine orchestration of every circumstance for His glory and our good.
Today, we draw from our Faith for Living archives to present the third message in this series: "Only Two Types of People." In this sermon, I investigate the timeless truths Paul speaks of: some live by what he calls “the flesh,” while God calls us in Christ to live “in the Spirit.” What does this distinction mean for us? There are essential facets to this answer. But one thing is sure: Obedience by grace is a pathway to a renewed and vibrant faith.
In "Only Two Types of People," we consider how surrendering to God's will transforms our struggles into testimonies of His unwavering love and power. We are reminded that, though we live in a fallen world, we are not of it. Our lives become living testimonies of how God's grace can turn every obstacle into an opportunity for His glory and our good” “If Christ is in you . . .” That one partial verse can turn the world upside down.
Welcome to this Sunday broadcast of Faith for Living and Romans 8:5-11. May God's grace and peace be with you as we walk this path together. You are never alone.
Yours in Christ,
Mike
“If Christ is in you . . .” That one partial verse can turn the world upside down.
Romans 8:5-11 (NKJV)
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Prayer
O Lord, you have taught us that without love, all our deeds are worth nothing: Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of charity, the true bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whoever lives is counted dead before you; grant this for the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
