How can we fight the thoughts of despair and defeat that may get written on our hearts, souls, and minds? Are we determined—programmed— to be prisoners of our genetic material? Or is the human soul capable of being transformed? All things new? Your Sunday Bible message today is a study from Exodus 6:1-6 and Hebrews 12:1-2. We are honored and humbled by your presence. We pray that these Bible messages will encourage you, and serve you in your life. In the name of one true God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
And now may “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace” (Numbers 6:24-26).
A Penitential Note to our Kind Subscribers:
I have been negligent in my duties of publishing on this site. A few weeks ago, I became so unwell that I had to go to the ER. After gathering samples of this and that, the emergency physician announced that I had “COVID-19 with complications.” The virus was especially hard on me given some existing medical challenges. I continued to write (and try to work on finishing an album that we hope to release by song on this site), but I never felt good about a finished product for you. I do hope I have not become like Walker Percy’s character, Will Barrett, in The Last Gentleman, of whom it was observed, “He had to know everything before he could do anything.” Lord, save us. I think I am more likely experiencing what Percy called “the silence of the time after.” But I am better. I hope I can move from tinkering in the garage of ideas to actually starting the engine of my piled-up projects. If the Lord allows, then I hope you will soon get some updates in your in-box. Not that you need them. But, truth be told, I need you. If I can't express my vocation to others, then my wife must suffer the full brunt of preacherly ramblings without the hope of escape. It is a fate made more terrible by the vows that inhibit her escape. So, on her behalf, thank you for subscribing.
Yours in the Lord,
Mike
