You Are Our Glory and Joy
Reflecting on God's Presence Thirty Years After the Organization of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Overland Park, Kansas
This year marks the thirtieth anniversary since we established Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, Kansas. It all started with a vision that the Lord gave us in the late 1980s, which led to the first service in the summer of 1993. The Organization Service took place in November 1994, and from there, a tremendous ministry followed among the people. The Lord established a branch of His cosmic mission in that beautiful place we called home. This year, we plan to revisit what the Lord has done through the years in this powerful witness for Christ in that great city. I hope to also share how the Lord brought about a vision for K-12 education from a Biblical and Reformed world and life view. From Westminster Academy to Heritage Christian Academy there is a story to be told.
Today, I would like to share the Dedication Sermon for the beautiful sanctuary that was built. However, to me, nothing is more beautiful than the picture of the children gathering at the church and school we wanted to establish. As the Apostle Paul said,
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you are our glory and joy” (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 NKJV).
