Dear Senator:
Sir, I wish I didn't have to write this letter. Perhaps, you might respond, “You don't have to!” Except I do.
I am writing about the continued degradation of our Armed Forces by a radical leftist ideology, or to use an older but most appropriate word, “sin.” As a Colonel, US Army retired, and a disabled Veteran, having served 32 years (part of that as a top-secret Navy linguist), I have been so distressed by the unrelenting ungodly, unAmerican promotion of unspeakable acts. Our most recent humiliation is the misappropriation of God’s sign of His promise, the rainbow, to advance a homosexual ideology in the United States Air Force. Moreover, the “flag” graphic (appearing on Twitter, and brought to my attention by another Vet) includes the silhouette image of an airman saluting the image. I not only find this deeply offensive, but heartbreaking. If this is a strategy for reaching recruiting goals or commissioning officers from the finest among us then it is destined for failure. Even more concerning is the fact that this kind of dark obsession has nothing to do with defeating an enemy. It is divisive and the unnecessary provocation is weakening the United States, destroying our nation’s spirit, and stripping our Armed Forces of a dignity and honor hardwon by many (including those my late father, a World War II naval officer).
As a minister of the Gospel, I believe the present “pride” over such undeniable dehumanizing sin is moving us to a self-condemning day of judgment. Yet, where sin abounds grace abounds even more. Our Lord Jesus Christ is our only hope.
Thank you, Senator, for all of your good work. Please speak up for the North Carolina citizens who are distraught over these continued shameful acts of our senior military officials.
Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy.
Yours faithfully,
Michael A. Milton, PhD
