God’s Transforming Power Through Pain
A Bible Message on Psalm 90 from the Cedar Falls Bible Conference
Welcome to a biblical message from Psalm 90, Moses’ great message to the children of Israel, and the Lord’s Word to us as you receive it today. This is a Word from another world.
Finding Hope in the Midst of Suffering
Over the years, the Lord has given me an open door to proclaim the unsearchable riches of Christ around the nation and, indeed, around the world. One of my favorite places to go has been the Cedar Falls Bible Conference in Cedar Falls, Iowa. It happens to be one of the longest-running Bible conferences in America. Not much has changed since believers gathered in the summer from all over the Midwest to hear the Word of God, to camp, and to enjoy the Lord’s beautiful creation. I would be remiss if I did not admit that one of my favorite evenings is bratwurst followed by ice cream and Amish pies.
While the event may be unknown to many across the country, preachers from Haddon Robinson to Ben Haden and D. James Kennedy to Lloyd Ogilvie and Derek Thomas to James Montgomery Boice have preached at this wonderful event. It is truly an American classic—over 100 years of continuous summer “camp meetings.” I preached there numerous times (a week of preaching, morning and evening) and always departed with beautiful memories.
We trust you will know the healing of God in this message on Psalm 90. I recall that many people came to counsel with me about the paradox of suffering and the transformative power of Christ in the midst of it all.
The Lord bless you and keep you. From the archives of Faith for Living, this is a message preached at the Cedar Falls Bible Conference in 2013: “God’s Transforming Power Through Pain.”
