First Sunday in Advent: Why the Second Advent Tarries
From the Epistle Reading for the First Sunday in Advent:
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9 ESV
We learn from the Apostle Peter: Christ’s Advent in His second coming is an event of incomparably magnificent and cosmic proportions perpetually united to the salvation of one human soul in the mind of the Almighty Triune GOD. This imponderable yet indisputable fact of Divine Revelation is one of the most transparent visions of the love of God the Father, the saving extent of God the Son, and the active role in history of God the Spirit.
