Dear Friends,
I am sharing a song, East of Eden. It is one of the songs on the album, Plain Folk. This is a live performance made especially for you, our subscribers. It is no frills, no edits ( a couple of humbling, deadened strings from my shaky fingers just to let you know this is NOT AI), and, thus, maybe no good! I did introduce the song under studio construction at the beginning of the video, then devolved to just me! But I hope it gives you some insight: the old lump of coal may get some magic dust on it. So, hopefully, we can clear this up a bit. Well, I share it with you to change things up a bit. I hope you enjoy it.
The Lord bless and keep you with the reality of Christ’s resurrection.
Yours in Christ,
Mike
PS: There is a BONUS for those who wait to listen until the end (a surprise visit just as I finish; Okay, not that big of a deal! My son walks in on me as I am recording; but pure spontaneity, I assure you).
“Then Cain went away from the presence of the LORD and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden” (Genesis 4:16 ESV).

We used to laugh
We used to play
We used to write each other
Most every day
But that was long before
We went away
Long before the fall
We used to scatter the seeds
On our way
We’d gather their flowers the very next day
Remember the words that we used to say
Don’t we have it all
But now I live
East of Eden
Just a stone’s throw from paradise
Wouldn’t it be nice
If we could return
There have been nights
I have seen the lights
Dancing in Eden
I think that I’m learning
The years of our yearning
Are all leading us back home
[Instrumental through verse; then return to bridge]
But now I live
East of Eden
Just across the tracks from paradise
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could go home
