A New Outlet for an Old Mission
The music business has changed. Streaming platforms scatter listeners across algorithms we don’t control, and discovery has become harder, not easier, for independent and ministry-driven artists.
Our response: we will continue releasing music and books through all the normal channels — streaming services, digital distribution, print and ebook platforms — because those reach real people, and reach is the point.
But we’re adding something new: Substack will now serve as a premier outlet for the release of new songs, albums, and books from Bethesda Music Group and Bethesda Publishing Group.
Why? Because Substack lets us pair the work itself with the story behind it — the Scripture that inspired a lyric, the history behind a hymn, the conviction behind a book. It puts new releases directly into the hands of people who’ve already said they want to hear from us, without a platform’s algorithm deciding who sees it.
We’ll monitor how this works and adjust as we go. The goal isn’t a platform — it’s people. Our mission remains the same: to reach as many people as possible, by all available means, with music and writing that points to Christ.
Bethesda Music Group and Bethesda Publishing Group are ministry units of Faith for Living, Inc., a North Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.

Experience, Like, and Share
Memory and longing, grace and healing are the central themes of Plain Folk, an album we’ve been working on for over a year. The collection now comprises 19 new compositions and recorded performances, and we plan to continue releasing singles in the months ahead, Lord willing. This will likely be my final album, and I’m working through it slowly — an encroaching illness I’ve mentioned in recent posts is unconcerned with my timetable. At first, I tried to outrun it; now I am learning to go with it, trusting that the paradox of the Gospel will prevail in this work as in all things. The songs on this album are not explicitly doctrinal, but stories set to music that carry a distinctly Christian view of the world — theology keeping camp on the banks of the river of life, where I’ve lived out ministry on behalf of the Redeemer. This is the setting for “Don’t Forget.”

The Story Behind the Song
Some songs come into being effortlessly, as if they’ve been waiting silently all along. Don’t Forget emerged that way for me. It wasn’t crafted through theory or imagination but from genuine lived experience — those tender, powerless moments where memory and vulnerability intersect, and memories are shared — that also serve as a message to the larger community. I have walked among those with fading recollections, where love sometimes seems to teeter on the verge of being forgotten. I’ve also witnessed the quiet, heroic dedication of caregivers — the sons and daughters, spouses, and friends — who whisper back what time attempts to erase. Born from that space of loss and love, and driven by a desire to preserve what is simple yet profound, this song was created.
As the small and fragile ship of life drifts rudderless into the mysterious deep, faint figures of loved ones from all stages of one’s life stand on the shore. And you whisper, “Don’t forget.” You drift and drift — silently, like a ghost over the misty depths. “Don’t forget” — your plea is now a prayer in your mind, a message to yourself, not others. There. Yonder. A starboard light. A light. The sun?
And then . . .
Making Don’t Forget
Mike Milton used a cross-picking technique on his Martin D-35 to produce both rhythm and harmony, resulting in a steady and warm sound. Jessie Morgan Soliday from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, a frequent collaborator with Milton, added her soulful violin and backing vocals, weaving beauty through the verses like a thread of grace. Hugo Iglesias from Valencia, Spain, provided the upright bass — an ensemble simple enough to leave space for the words, yet rich enough to carry the prayer. The song was mixed and mastered by Nikolaos Patronopoulos at Lovestate Records, London. — The Distributor
Don’t Forget is a profoundly personal story dedicated to caregivers everywhere. May it remind us that love endures even when memory fades; that a whispered prayer, a tune, or a promise can outlast the silence. — Bethesda Music Group
Don’t Forget is dedicated to caregivers everywhere — from an old friend who brings childhood memories to life, to a colleague who shepherds a fellow shepherd, to a faithful wife who is there. It reminds us that love endures even when memory fades; that a whispered prayer, scribbling in the sand, and a promise in the Word outlast the muted reflections of time. — Mike Milton
Pastoral Reflections
Some songs are born quickly, as if they’ve been waiting in the shaded silence all along. Don’t Forget came to me that way. It was not written from theory or imagination, but out of lived experience — out of the tender, fragile moments of life and love, faith and hope, autumn leaves attached but tenuous.
I have walked among those whose lives are marked by fading recollections, where love sometimes feels like it trembles on the edge of forgetting. And I have seen the quiet, heroic devotion of caregivers — the sons and daughters, the spouses and friends — who whisper back what time has tried to erase.
Scripture
“Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save” (Isaiah 46:4).
Prayer of Dedication
O LORD OF LOVE, revealed fully in Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, I pray that Your Holy Spirit will use this song to reach the hearts of Your people — the lowly and the lost, the doubters and the dreamers, the forsaken and the forgotten. Grant hope to the hopeless, reminding us that in You we have a loving Master who keeps His promises even when our own memory fails. If it pleases You, may this song become an instrument of encouragement and blessing to all who need its message. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Introduction to the Lyrics
In the quiet corners of memory, where the self encounters its fleeting nature — like a child lost in a county fair — comes “Don’t Forget,” a folk lament from Michael Anthony Milton’s upcoming album Plain Folk. Here, amidst the strum of strings warmed by hearth and heart, we reflect on the eternal love of God mirrored in the fragile tapestry of human connections: the unsung saints tending the fading embers of recollection, those caregivers embodying divine fidelity in a world prone to forgetfulness. This song, dedicated to them, whispers of love’s persistence beyond time’s erosion — a pastoral gesture, not unlike a contemplative’s vigil, reminding us that in the shadows of forgetting, grace abides, as in the psalmist’s assurance:
“The steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting” (Psalm 103:17). It’s an invitation to pause, to remember that our stories, however fragmentary, are caught up in the greater narrative of redemption. Lyrics, etched like notes in a hermit’s journal:
The Lyrics
Don't Forget
Words and Music © 2025 Michael Anthony Milton (Bethesda Music Group, BMI).
Verse 1
When I whisper, "Don't forget"
Here's what I meant to say:
Always remember, and please don't let
Time take your love away.
Verse 2
When I write, "Always know"
Here's what I hope you will see:
Shadows will come, but the sun won't go—
Trust in what you believe.
Bridge
Wind and wishes drift and are gone,
Even the daylight must move on.
Pressed in the pages of a time long gone
Is a verse transcending time.
Instrumental
Verse 3
When I whisper, "Don't forget"
The words are a silent prayer;
And when I am gone, no regret,
The promise will still be there.
Coda / Outro
Always remember, don't forget,
Remember what you used to say.
Always remember, don't forget—
All that we have is today.
Always remember, don't forget,
Love is a memory, too.
Always remember, don't forget—
So I'll leave my memory with you.Credits
