Faith for Living, Inc. is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation located in North Carolina. Founded by Dr. Michael A. Milton in 2004, the organization was officially incorporated in 2013. Dr. Milton serves as the President and CEO of the ministry. Faith for Living operates with the support of individual contributions and the provisions of God. It adopts an enterprise model similar to that of nonprofits by offering books and music in exchange for in-kind donations.
The primary mission of Faith for Living is to proclaim and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to as many people as possible through all available means. The ministry focuses particularly on communication, discipleship, and education. This mission is motivated by a profound “burden” stemming from the belief that humanity is ensnared by sin, shame, sorrow, and death, which are caused by the “soul-killing, life-limiting lies of the devil, the flesh, and the world.” In response to this burden, the ministry aims to proclaim the riches of Jesus Christ so that through grace and faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), individuals can be liberated from the bondage of sin and experience abundant and eternal life. The vision is to see a multitude of souls safe in the arms of Jesus when He comes again (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20).
Faith for Living's operational philosophy ("philosophy of ministry") is centered on “Excellence in all things and all things for Christ.” It strives to advance its vision and mission based on core values, including a commitment to God's Word as a guide, obedience to God's Mandates (the Cultural Mandate and the Great Commission), and the pursuit of advancing the Lordship of Jesus Christ over all things through means of grace, such as the Word, Sacraments, and Prayer. The ministry is firmly rooted in a steadfast faith and commitment to the Holy Bible as the inherent and infallible Word of the Living God. It operates with a spirit of common grace while teaching according to Biblical Christian truth, as expressed in ecumenical creeds (such as the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds) and Reformed confessions (including the Thirty-Nine Articles, Three Forms of Unity, and Westminster Standards). Faith for Living seeks to promote unity within the Body of Christ and engages in partnerships to fulfill its mission.
As an enterprise nonprofit, Faith for Living primarily seeks funding through revenues generated by products, services, and experiences, as well as grants and donations. The organization presents opportunities for giving rather than directly soliciting funds, trusting that God will inspire individuals to support the ministry. It is structured with an administrative hub and various organizational units or satellite ministries that share its nonprofit status. Examples include:
• The D. James Kennedy Institute of Reformed Leadership focuses on public and pastoral theology, research, writing, and resources.
• Bethesda Music Group creates and curates music aimed at “healing the wounded souls."
• Bethesda Publishing Group publishes works, including those by Dr. Milton, that apply the truth of Scripture to every area of life.
Dr. Milton is a Presbyterian (PCA) pastor, theologian, author, composer, retired Army Chaplain (Colonel), and professor with extensive experience in ministry, including founding three churches and one of the top ten largest PCA schools in America. He served as the senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga and President and Chancellor/CEO of Reformed Theological Seminary.
