A Devotion on the Fourth Sunday of Epiphany
One of the most powerful promises in Scripture is set before us in the Psalm for today. “Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4 NKJV). For thirteen years, I prayed this passage to the Lord and waited. In the fourteenth year, I saw His glorious hand move in a series of unforgettable events that only God could providentially arrange. How humbling it is that a holy God should condescend to a sinful man to reveal His glory in the midst of incredible joy. Yet, this, too, is part of the ruling motif of the Gospel. On this fourth Sunday in Epiphany, we rejoice that God appeared to the prince and the pauper alike. Thus, there is room for you and me.

A Prayer
O God, you know that we are set in the midst of many grave dangers, and because of the frailty of our nature, we cannot always stand upright: Grant that your strength and protection may support us in all dangers and carry us through every temptation; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. BCP 2019.
